Topic of Discussion

The Changing RefrigeranLandscape (Minefield?!)

Refrigerant choices for refrigeration and air conditioning systems are undergoing significant change.  Severely restricted now, production and importation of new R-22 into the US will cease as of 2020.

Recent EPA Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) rules set a time line for de-listing several common HFC refrigerants as acceptable alternatives for many commercial refrigeration, domestic appliance, and chiller applications. Some of the first de-listings have already taken effect.  The EPA has also approved (or SNAP listed) several alternative HFC and HFO-blend refrigerants that may be used to retrofit existing systems and new systems. Other state, national, and international regulatory activities also affect the refrigerants market.

The presenter will give an overview of the regulatory activity, explore the alternatives, and discuss how they may be successfully implemented.

Please RSVP at www.kcashrae.org by Friday, March 31st @ Noon.

Fees are $25 for those who RSVP by deadline and $30.00 at the door.
